A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Southwark is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their pastoral support team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's education, wellbeing, and personal development.

The successful candidate will work closely with students, staff, and families to help remove barriers to learning, improve engagement, and support students in reaching their full potential.

The Role

• Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring support to students.
• Help improve attendance, behaviour, engagement, and overall wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships with students who may require additional support.
• Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to implement effective support strategies.
• Support students both in and out of the classroom where required.
• Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies when appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support setting.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and support students from a range of backgrounds.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and student welfare is desirable.
• Graduates considering a future career in education are encouraged to apply.
