Reed Accountancy are working with a client in Brighouse who are looking for a Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a standalone position, taking over from the current postholder who is retiring. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts function, alongside a variety of office duties. This is a hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys a varied position covering both finance and general business support

Location: Brighouse
Salary: £28k - £30k
Working Hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase invoices and supplier payments
• Raising sales invoices and managing customer accounts
• Credit control and chasing outstanding debts
• Bank reconciliations
• Posting and reconciling transactions within the accounting system
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers
• Managing employee expenses and company credit cards
• Assisting with weekly payroll administration
• Monitoring cash flow and reporting any issues to management
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Supporting month-end processes
• Liaising with external accountants and providing information required for management accounts, year-end accounts, and audits
• Assisting with general office administration where required

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant role
• Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
• Experience using Sage 50 or Progress-plus (desirable)
• Good understanding of VAT and financial controls
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines
• Confident communicator with a professional approach
