Location: London & South East
Salary: (phone number removed) Plus Package
Project Values: Up to £5 million
Sector: MEP / Building Services / Decarbonisation / Retrofit
Employment Type: Permanent
The Opportunity
We are working with an established and growing main contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior MEP Project Manager / Operations Manager to take responsibility for its decarbonisation division.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious MEP professional to step into a senior operational position, overseeing the delivery of technically challenging projects valued up to £5 million, while playing an important role in the continued development of the division.
The business delivers a range of mechanical and electrical building services projects, with a particular focus on improving the energy performance and sustainability of existing buildings.
The successful candidate will take ownership of project delivery, operational performance, client relationships and subcontractor management, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the successful delivery of multiple MEP and decarbonisation projects, with individual values up to £5 million.
Take operational responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
Manage project programmes, budgets, procurement, resources and subcontractor performance.
Coordinate mechanical and electrical works, including HVAC upgrades, plantroom refurbishments, heat pump installations, BMS and associated building services.
Maintain strong commercial oversight, working closely with commercial teams to manage project costs, variations and profitability.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
Provide leadership and support to project managers, engineers and site delivery teams.
Develop operational processes and reporting structures to support the continued growth of the division.
Support senior management with resource planning, project forecasting and future delivery requirements.
Experience Required
Proven experience as a Senior MEP Project Manager, MEP Contracts Manager or Operations Manager within a building services contracting environment.
Strong mechanical and electrical building services knowledge, ideally with a mechanical bias.
Experience delivering MEP projects valued between £1 million and £5 million.
A background in commercial refurbishment, building services upgrades, HVAC replacement, plantroom installations or MEP retrofit projects.
Strong commercial awareness and experience managing subcontractors, budgets and project programmes.
Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent client-facing, communication and leadership skills.
The ability to take ownership of operational delivery and support the development of a growing division.
Previous experience delivering decarbonisation or energy efficiency projects would be advantageous, although candidates with strong MEP refurbishment and retrofit experience will also be considered.
The Opportunity for Progression
This position offers considerably more responsibility than a traditional Project Management role.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leading role within a specialist division, influence how projects are delivered and help shape its continued growth.
We would welcome applications from established Operations Managers as well as experienced Senior MEP Project Managers or Contracts Managers who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
