Location: Leicester and surroundings

Job Type: Part-Time / Flexible Hours

Company: RAFAH Healthcare

Required timings: 5:30 AM - 9 AM

Pay rate: £18 per hour including mileage

Job Summary

RAFAH Healthcare is looking for a reliable, responsible and flexible Part-Time Driver to support our domiciliary care services across Hull and the surrounding areas.

The main purpose of this role is to transport our care workers safely and efficiently between service users’ homes, helping them arrive at their scheduled care visits on time.

Our carers provide essential support to people in their own homes, so punctual and dependable transport is extremely important. You will work closely with our Care Coordinators and care staff throughout your shift and may be required to adapt to changes in the rota.

This role would suit someone who knows Leicester and the surrounding areas well, enjoys driving, communicates effectively and understands the importance of reliability when supporting a healthcare service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport care workers between service users’ homes across Hull and surrounding areas.
  • Follow the daily care rota and planned transport schedule provided by the Care Coordinator.
  • Help ensure carers arrive at their scheduled visits safely and on time.
  • Plan efficient routes between care visits, taking account of traffic and travel times.
  • Remain available during agreed working hours to transport carers between consecutive calls.
  • Communicate promptly with the Care Coordinator if traffic, delays or other issues could affect scheduled care visits.
  • Respond appropriately to reasonable changes to routes or the rota during the shift.
  • Maintain professional and respectful behaviour when transporting staff and when arriving at or waiting near service users’ homes.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding service users, their addresses, care arrangements and any information heard or seen while undertaking the role.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, safe and suitable for transporting staff.
  • Complete appropriate vehicle safety checks and report defects or concerns promptly.
  • Follow road traffic legislation, company policies and health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Report accidents, incidents, breakdowns or significant delays immediately.

Essential Requirements

The successful applicant must:

  • Hold a full valid UK driving licence.
  • Be a safe, confident and responsible driver.
  • Have a good knowledge of Leicesterand surrounding areas, or be confident using navigation systems.
  • Be reliable and punctual, as care visits are time-sensitive.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Be comfortable working independently while remaining in regular contact with the Care Coordinator.
  • Be able to manage changing routes and priorities calmly.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries within a healthcare environment.
  • Be respectful and professional when working with care staff, service users and their families.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous professional driving experience.
  • Previous experience transporting staff or passengers.
  • Experience working within healthcare, domiciliary care, community services or a similar environment.
  • Good knowledge of postcodes and local routes.

Working Hours

This is a part-time flexible role.

Working hours will be arranged according to the needs of the care service and may include:

  • Early mornings
  • Weekends

Applicants should therefore have a reasonable level of flexibility.

Important Nature of the Role

This is not a standard delivery-driving position.

You will be supporting a domiciliary care service where carers need to reach vulnerable people in their own homes at agreed times. Reliability, punctuality, safe driving and good communication are therefore essential.

Delays or unexplained absence could affect the delivery of essential care, so the successful applicant must take their agreed shifts and responsibilities seriously.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

Reliable | Punctual | Patient | Professional | Flexible | Safety-conscious | Respectful | A good communicator

If you enjoy driving and would like a role where your work directly supports carers to provide essential services to people within their local community, we would be pleased to hear from you.
