Accounts Payable Assistant | Runcorn | Permanent, full time office | £28,000-32,000

We are working with a well-established construction business in Runcorn to recruit an Accounts Payable Assistant to join their finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business undergoing an exciting period of transformation, offering the chance to play an important role in developing its finance processes and systems.

Working closely with the Accounts Payable Manager, you will take responsibility for high-volume invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and supporting the wider finance and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high volumes of purchase invoices, including cost of sales, agency and supplier invoices.
• Carry out 3-way matching of purchase orders, goods received notes and invoices.
• Manage supplier queries and maintain the accounts payable inbox.
• Complete supplier statement reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist with GRNI reconciliations and outstanding invoice queries.
• Process employee expenses and company credit card reconciliations.
• Support weekly supplier payment runs.
• Assist with subcontractor documentation, CIS administration and retention tracking.
• Support improvements to finance processes, including data cleansing and ERP system implementation.

For this Accounts Payable Assistant role, you must have:

• Previous experience within Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or a similar transactional finance role.
• Good understanding of invoice processing, reconciliations and ideally 3-way matching.
• Confident Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Experience using ERPs would be advantageous
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
