Finance Manager

An established Northamptonshire business is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to play a key role within its site-based finance function.

This is a hands-on and commercially focused position, working closely with operational and senior stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for maintaining strong financial control while providing the insight needed to support business performance and decision-making.

The role will include:

• Production of weekly and monthly management information
• Budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting
• Revenue, margin and cost analysis
• Reviewing financial performance and investigating variances
• Balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
• Supporting month-end reporting
• Monitoring operational and financial KPIs
• Identifying areas for cost improvement and efficiencies
• Supporting audit requirements
• Providing commercial insight to non-finance stakeholders
• Improving existing finance processes and reporting
• Highlighting financial risks and opportunities across the business

What we’re looking for:

• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant
• Strong management accounting experience
• Good understanding of financial controls and the balance sheet
• Experience of budgeting and forecasting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand the story behind the numbers
• Confident communicating with finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience working with an ERP/finance system
• Comfortable working within a busy, fast-paced environment
• Proactive approach with a desire to improve processes and ways of working

Experience within a product-led, operational, manufacturing, distribution or similarly fast-paced environment would be advantageous, although the right finance background and commercial approach are more important.

This would suit someone who enjoys being close to the operation rather than purely reporting the numbers, and who wants the opportunity to have a genuine influence on how a business performs.
