Socode are partnering with a Cambridgeshire-based technology company developing advanced industrial inkjet systems used in high-performance manufacturing environments. As their customer and R&D programmes continue to grow, they’re looking to bring in a Senior Inkjet Applications Engineer to lead waveform development for demanding customer applications.
This is a technically focused role sitting across application development, R&D, field applications and commercial teams. You’ll be the go-to expert for optimising how waveform, ink and print interact. You’ll turn test data into clear insight that drives technical decisions across customer, new product and production work.
What will you be doing?
Leading the development and optimisation of waveforms for demanding customer applications
Designing application test protocols that target key risks within project and customer objectives
Independently scheduling, preparing, printing and measuring test samples to industry standards
Validating, optimising and operating print development and measurement equipment with minimal supervision
Analysing and presenting test data clearly to guide application improvements and technical decisions
Refining test methods, acceptance criteria, tooling and documentation to improve reproducibility and throughput
Identifying and escalating project risks, backed by evidence and practical countermeasures
Mentoring developers and technicians on equipment operation and workflow best practice
Working with R&D, field applications, project managers and commercial teams to remove blockers and keep programmes movingWhat are they looking for?
Significant experience in inkjet application development, including optimising and validating waveform–ink–print interactions
Strong background in print development, measurement and interpretation of test data
Proven ability to improve methods, tooling and documentation and to resolve complex technical issues
Experience mentoring technicians or junior developers
Evidence-based, analytical thinker with strong experimental planning skills
Clear communicator, comfortable working across multiple technical and commercial teams
Proficient in MS Office, with some programming or scripting knowledge (ideally Python)
Degree in a STEM discipline, or equivalent vocational inkjet experienceNice to have
Experience shaping acceptance criteria and improving workflow reproducibility
Understanding of system-level interdependencies in print systems
Exposure to both customer-facing and production programmes
Background in industries with high reliability or quality requirements
