Global Billings & Accounts Receivable Specialist – 6 Month Temp Contract

Location: Berkhamsted

Working pattern: Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office

Contract: 6 months

The Role

We are recruiting an experienced Global Billings & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join an international business on an initial 6-month temporary contract.

This is a hands-on role within a busy finance team, with a strong focus on global billing, sales order processing and ensuring invoices are raised accurately and on time. The billing cycle is particularly busy at month-end, so we are looking for someone who can manage high volumes, work to tight deadlines and ensure nothing is missed.

Alongside billing, you will support the wider order-to-cash process, including cash allocation, reconciliations, collections and resolving client queries across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage global billing activities, ensuring sales orders and invoices are processed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Review and approve sales orders, checking supporting documentation and resolving discrepancies with internal teams.
  • Take ownership of busy monthly billing cycles, ensuring high volumes of invoices are issued on time.
  • Prepare and issue client invoices and credit notes across multiple countries, currencies and entities.
  • Ensure invoices meet client-specific requirements, including correct billing details, purchase orders, currency and applicable tax treatment.
  • Liaise with international colleagues and clients to resolve billing queries and obtain missing information.
  • Proactively manage outstanding receivables, following up with clients and internal sales teams to secure payment.
  • Allocate incoming cash accurately and investigate unallocated receipts and account discrepancies.
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger and resolve disputed items and outstanding queries.
  • Carry out daily bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Produce aged debt reports and support month-end and year-end reconciliations, accruals and bad debt provisions.
  • Maintain accurate client records, payment terms, billing contacts and customer portal information.
  • Support cash-flow forecasting, audit requests and improvements to billing and AR processes.

About You

  • Previous experience in global or international billing, accounts receivable, sales ledger or credit control.
  • Strong sales invoicing experience, ideally within a multi-entity or international business.
  • Comfortable managing high-volume billing and working to strict month-end deadlines.
  • Experience reviewing sales orders, raising invoices and resolving billing discrepancies.
  • Good understanding of the end-to-end order-to-cash process, including invoicing, cash allocation, collections and reconciliations.
  • Experience with multi-currency transactions and international client accounts is advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems. NetSuite experience would be beneficial.
  • An understanding of VAT, GST and other relevant tax requirements would be an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • A confident and professional communicator who can build relationships with international stakeholders and resolve queries effectively.
