Temporary Bookkeeper (Part-Time, typically 1 day per Week)
Location: Coventry Contract: Temporary Salary: Competitive hourly rate
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Bookkeeper to support a small charitable organisation on a temporary basis. Working closely with the management team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the charity's finances.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised finance professional who can work independently and provide hands-on bookkeeping support within a purpose-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems
- Process purchase invoices and supplier payments
- Raise sales invoices and monitor incoming payments
- Reconcile bank accounts and control accounts
- Prepare and process a small monthly payroll
- Manage employee expenses and petty cash
- Assist with month-end procedures and financial reporting
- Support budget monitoring and cash flow management
- Maintain charity finance records in line with relevant regulations and internal procedures
- Provide support during audits or independent examinations as required
- General finance administration and filing
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Experience processing payroll
- Strong bank reconciliation and ledger management skills
- Proficiency in finance software and Microsoft Excel
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping certification
- Knowledge of charity accounting principles and restricted funds
