The opportunity

Are you an experienced Electrical Fitter, Panel Wirer or Electrical Assembly Technician looking for your next opportunity in industrial engineering?

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Fitter to join our Electrical Assembly Team, working on the manufacture and assembly of gas turbine-powered generator packages and associated equipment.

This is a hands-on role involving electrical installation, panel building, cable routing and termination, and the fitting of electrical components within specialist generator systems. You will work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and build documentation to deliver safe, accurate and high-quality electrical assemblies.

The role offers the opportunity to develop your experience within a specialist power-generation environment, with occasional work on customer sites in the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems, control panels and components within generator packages and associated equipment.
  • Carry out panel wiring, cable routing, glanding and termination using a range of cable types and installation methods, including armoured cable, conduit and MICC where required.
  • Build and assemble electrical panels, bedplates and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams, checking cable identification, connections, terminal locations and installation accuracy.
  • Install electrical equipment, motors and cable tray, supporting the wider mechanical and electrical assembly team.
  • Assist with electrical testing of panels and assemblies using appropriate test and measurement equipment.
  • Inspect components and parts kits, identify shortages or damage, and select suitable cables, glands, crimps and associated materials.
  • Support fault-finding, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of electrical equipment, machinery, fixed wiring and switchgear.
  • Assist with site infrastructure installations and modifications, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Following appropriate training and authorisation, undertake additional testing and generator connection/disconnection duties within the relevant permit-to-work arrangements.
  • Contribute to refurbishment, overhaul and special engineering projects.
  • Travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas when required.

  • Practical experience of electrical panel wiring or panel building.
  • Competence using hand tools, power tools and electrical installation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, follow technical documentation and work to established procedures.

Desirable experience and qualifications

  • Experience working with industrial electrical equipment or power-generation systems.
  • Electrical Inspection and Testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391.
  • IOSH Working Safely or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
