Behaviour Mentor - Newbury

Location: Newbury, Berkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Scale: £90-£105 per day

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome behavioural challenges and achieve their potential?

Are you a Psychology graduate or aspiring teacher looking to gain practical experience in a specialist school?

A specialist SEMH school in Newbury is seeking a resilient and enthusiastic Behaviour Mentor to join its team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates and experienced support staff who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who face barriers to education.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those who may experience ADHD, ASD, emotional regulation difficulties or challenging behaviour. You will help pupils develop positive coping strategies, build confidence and engage more successfully with their education.

The school is looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, establish clear boundaries and build trusting relationships with pupils. You will work alongside teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support tailored to each student's individual needs.

As a Behaviour Mentor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils experiencing behavioural challenges.
  • Helping students develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Building supportive relationships that encourage engagement and participation.
  • Supporting pupils during challenging situations and helping them return to learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to implement individual support plans.
  • Maintaining a safe, structured and positive learning environment.

This Behaviour Mentor position is particularly suited to individuals interested in educational psychology, counselling, youth work or teaching. You will gain valuable hands-on experience supporting young people while developing skills in behaviour management, communication and emotional support.

Previous experience in an SEN, SEMH, care or youth work setting would be beneficial, but applications are also welcomed from graduates with the right attitude and transferable skills.

If you are a motivated Behaviour Mentor looking for a rewarding opportunity in Newbury, we encourage you to apply.
