Your new company
You'll be joining a highly regarded organisation in Cambridge at an exciting point in its development. Working across two organisations that are moving towards becoming one integrated team by late 2028, this is an opportunity to play an important part in developing a consistent, practical approach to compliance across the organisation.

Your new role
As Compliance Officer, you'll work closely with senior colleagues to support the organisation in meeting its legal, regulatory and governance responsibilities. It's a varied role encompassing compliance monitoring, policy management, audit and inspection preparation, risk management, data protection and information governance.
You'll help monitor regulatory developments, coordinate compliance activities and support departments in identifying and addressing areas of risk or non-compliance. You'll also contribute to reports and assurance updates for senior leaders and help ensure the organisation remains inspection-ready.

A key part of the position will involve reviewing and developing policies and procedures, maintaining appropriate registers and supporting data protection activities including DPIAs, records of processing activity, data-sharing arrangements, personal data breaches and subject access requests. You'll also have the opportunity to deliver compliance training and turn complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for colleagues.

What you'll need to succeed
You'll already have experience of supporting compliance within a regulated environment and be comfortable interpreting regulatory requirements and turning them into clear policies, procedures or guidance. You'll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
You'll be organised, self-motivated and approachable, with the confidence to challenge constructively when required. Strong Microsoft 365 skills are essential, along with good judgement, discretion and the ability to build effective working relationships across an organisation.

Experience of data protection/GDPR, audits, inspections, project work or compliance within a regulated environment like financial services or education would be particularly useful, although these are listed as desirable rather than essential. A relevant degree or professional qualification in areas such as compliance, audit, health and safety or data protection would also be advantageous.

What you'll get in return
This is a really interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys making compliance practical rather than purely procedural. You'll have plenty of variety, exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to contribute to the development of a cross-organisation compliance framework at an important period of change. You'll be joining an environment where collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement are central to the approach, with the opportunity to make a tangible contribution as the organisation goes through a period of change and evolution.

Other benefits include 28 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, staff parking on site, BUPA cash plan, employee assistance programme, an on-site gym and swimming pool, and free restaurant quality lunches.
