Elevation are partnered with a well-established, SME business in Normanton to appoint a Group Accountant. The business has grown steadily over the years, both organically and through acquisition, and now operates across a number of sites and trading entities. That growth has created the need for someone to take real ownership of group reporting and help keep the finance function ahead of where the business is going.

This is an SME environment in the best sense. Decisions are made quickly, the finance team is close to the leadership, and your work will be seen and valued. You won’t be one of many in a large shared service centre; you’ll be a central part of how the group understands its numbers.

The role

Reporting to the COO, you’ll take responsibility for month end across the group, from the individual entities through to consolidation. It’s a broad, varied remit that suits someone who enjoys being hands-on and likes the satisfaction of a clean set of group numbers.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing monthly management accounts for each trading entity and the consolidated group, with clear commentary on performance
• Managing intercompany transactions, recharges and reconciliations across the group
• Owning balance sheet reconciliations and making sure the ledgers stand up to scrutiny
• Supporting the annual budget and regular reforecasts
• Producing cashflow forecasts and supporting working capital management
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation across the group
• Supporting year-end and the external audit, including preparation of supporting schedules
• Helping integrate the finance processes of newly acquired businesses into the group
• Identifying ways to improve processes, controls and reporting as the group continues to grow
• Supervising and developing a small team

About you

• ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
• Solid experience of multi-entity management accounts, ideally including consolidation and intercompany
• A background in SME or owner-managed businesses, where you’ve been close to the detail and comfortable wearing a few hats
• Strong balance sheet discipline and an eye for detail
• Confident Excel skills and comfortable picking up new finance systems
• Someone who communicates clearly with non-finance colleagues and enjoys being part of a close-knit team
