Senior Accounts Payable Assistant

Experienced in Accounts Payable and confident managing complex purchase ledgers?

Macildowie is working with an established Coventry-based business that is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger professional to join its finance team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong, hands-on AP experience who is comfortable managing multiple ledgers, currencies, supplier accounts and reconciliations.

The role is initially temporary for approximately two months, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

We're looking for someone who can get up to speed quickly, work independently and bring confidence and accuracy to a busy finance function.

The Role

• Managing and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records across multiple ledgers.

• Processing and coding supplier invoices, including multi-currency transactions.

• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.

• Supporting supplier payment runs and handling payment queries.

• Assisting with bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.

• Ensuring accurate allocation of invoices and costs.

• Supporting VAT-related processing and checks.

• Assisting with month-end processes and wider finance activities.

• Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Strong, hands-on Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger experience.

• Experience working with complex or multiple ledgers.

• Confidence handling multi-currency transactions and reconciliations.

• Strong supplier statement reconciliation and payment processing skills.

• Good basic Excel skills.

• A sound understanding of VAT.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.

Desirable:

• Previous Sage 200 experience – a real advantage!

• Hands-on experience with VAT processing.

• Experience in a complex or multi-entity finance environment.

What's on Offer?

• £15–£17 per hour, depending on experience.

• ASAP start.

• Initial temporary assignment of approximately 2 months.

• Opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

• Full-time preferred, although 4-day weeks, part-time hours and flexibility around school runs can be considered.

• Office-based initially, with potential hybrid working if permanent.

• Varied, hands-on position within an established finance team.
