Legal Cashier - Part-Time

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week
Working hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm, with one hour for lunch

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and organised Legal Cashier to join a busy Accounts Department within an established law firm based in Nottingham

The firm specialises in Criminal Defence, Family Law, Personal Injury, Public Law and Community Care, providing a varied and professional working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong accounts background and previous legal cashiering experience who is looking to build on their existing skills within a supportive and professional team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied range of financial and accounting duties, including:

• Completing bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
• Processing client and office account receipts.
• Checking and processing private client and Legal Aid bills.
• Setting up and processing electronic payments.
• Managing purchase ledger transactions.
• Managing and reconciling petty cash.
• Reconciling company credit card transactions.
• Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Providing general support to the wider Accounts Department as required.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a reliable, organised and detail-oriented individual who can work confidently in a busy professional environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least one year's legal cashiering experience.
• Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
• A good understanding of VAT.
• Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines accurately.
• A professional, proactive and reliable approach to work.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
