Client Relationship Director

Salary: £85,000 - £95,000

Are you an experienced Client Relationship Director who knows how to build lasting partnerships, lead high-performing teams and drive commercial success?

We’re working with a well-established business looking for a strategic, commercially minded Client Relationship Director to take ownership of its Client Management function, protect and grow key accounts, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to relationship management, service delivery and business improvement.

The Role

As Client Relationship Director, you will play a key role in shaping business strategy while ensuring client satisfaction, retention and profitability remain at the heart of everything the business does.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing the Client Management function, setting clear objectives and driving team performance.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders and executive-level clients.
• Driving client retention, contract renewals, renegotiations and account development opportunities.
• Monitoring client satisfaction, service performance and commercial results, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Taking ownership of complex client escalations and ensuring effective resolutions are delivered.
• Leading service improvement initiatives to enhance the customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Overseeing the successful mobilisation of new contracts and the implementation of additional services.
• Working closely with senior management and other departments to support business strategy and growth.
• Using management information, customer feedback and performance data to drive informed decisions.
• Supporting new business opportunities, including tenders, presentations and client proposals.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and commercially astute leader who can influence at board level, build trusted relationships and inspire a customer-focused culture.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience leading a Client Management or Account Management function within a complex B2B service environment.
• A strong track record of managing high-value client relationships and engaging with senior and executive-level stakeholders.
• Demonstrable success in client retention, contract renewals and commercial negotiations.
• Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to balance customer needs against business performance and profitability.
• Strong leadership skills, including coaching, developing and motivating teams.
• Experience managing contractual risks, service issues and complex client escalations.
• A track record of driving service improvements, operational efficiencies and positive commercial outcomes.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and turn insight into action.
• A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive change.
