A secondary school is seeking an experienced English Teacher to join its teaching team in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, delivering English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This is a full teaching commitment suited to a qualified professional who can take responsibility for planning, teaching, assessment and pupil progress.

The position provides the opportunity to work within a structured secondary school environment, teaching pupils across the relevant key stages and contributing fully to the wider responsibilities expected of a classroom teacher.

What You Will Be Responsible For...

The successful candidate will take ownership of their teaching timetable and will be expected to:

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teach the English curriculum in line with departmental expectations
• Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations where applicable
• Assess and monitor pupil progress
• Provide clear and constructive feedback
• Adapt teaching to support different abilities and learning needs
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
• Contribute to departmental planning and development
• Work collaboratively with colleagues
• Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and other professionals
• Follow safeguarding, attendance and school policies

This is not simply a lesson-cover position. The successful applicant will be expected to take full responsibility for their classes and contribute as a member of the wider teaching team.

Person Requirements:

You should have:

Essential

• Qualified Teacher Status or recognised equivalent
• Strong subject knowledge in English
• Experience teaching at secondary level
• Experience delivering KS3 and/or KS4 English
• Strong classroom management
• A clear understanding of assessment and pupil progress
• Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards

Desirable

• GCSE English teaching experience
• Experience preparing pupils for examinations
• Previous experience within a secondary school department
