Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:40am–4:00pm, and Friday, 7:40am–1:40pm

Department: Operations

Reports to: Operations Manager

We’re looking for an organised and hands-on Logistics Operative to support our warehouse and production teams. You’ll help keep stock accurate, ensure parts reach the production floor when needed, and maintain a safe, well-organised warehouse.

The role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving deliveries, checking goods against delivery notes, reporting any damage and booking items into the system.
  • Managing stock movements in Sage 200, including booking completed machines into stock and issuing, un-issuing and returning parts.
  • Picking and preparing machine orders in line with the production schedule, keeping picking lists updated and following up on shortages.
  • Recording and resolving stock shortages, placing or chasing supplier orders where needed.
  • Handling quality rejections, arranging returns and replacements with suppliers, and updating the COPQ database.
  • Placing purchase orders from MRP and ordering consumables for the shop floor.
  • Packing smaller orders and preparing accurate shipping documents.
  • Maintaining stock control through cycle counts, stock takes and good warehouse organisation.
  • Using a forklift truck and overhead crane safely, in line with your training and relevant regulations.
  • Attending daily operations meetings at 8:00am and 10:00am to coordinate stores requirements and production needs.
  • Taking part in warehouse safety checks and reporting hazards.
  • Occasionally making deliveries and collections in the company vehicle.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and keeping the warehouse clean and organised using 5S principles.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a stores, warehouse or logistics role.
  • Good stock control and inventory management skills.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Forklift truck licence or willingness to undertake training.
  • Confidence using email, Excel and computer-based stock systems. Sage 200 experience is useful, but training can be provided.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work with minimal supervision in a busy environment.
  • A flexible, self-motivated and practical approach.

Benefits

  • Company pension contribution of 3%.
  • Death in Service cover.
  • Permanent Health Insurance scheme.
  • Cash Benefit Scheme.
  • Statutory sick pay.

Working hours

Monday to Thursday: 7:40am–4:00pm, with a 20-minute lunch break.

Friday: 7:40am–1:40pm, with no lunch break.
