Compliance Officer – Mortgages / Secured Lending
Up to £50,000 plus discretionary bonus and benefits
London | Hybrid – three office days, two from home
Do you have hands-on compliance experience within mortgages, secured lending or second charge lending?
Armstrong Knight is recruiting a Compliance Officer for an established specialist lending business. This is a practical, varied role for someone who enjoys reviewing customer outcomes, investigating concerns and helping colleagues apply compliance requirements in their everyday work.
You’ll work closely with senior compliance colleagues and teams across the business, contributing to monitoring, file reviews, complaints investigations and improvements to policies and processes.
The role
• Review mortgage and secured lending customer files, identifying compliance issues and potential customer harm.
• Complete compliance monitoring reviews, document findings and follow up corrective actions.
• Support Consumer Duty work and assess whether processes and communications deliver appropriate customer outcomes.
• Investigate complaints and support fair, thorough resolutions.
• Provide clear, practical compliance guidance to colleagues.
• Contribute to financial crime prevention activity.
• Help maintain policies, procedures and compliance training.
Essential experience
• Previous hands-on compliance experience within mortgages, secured lending or second charge lending.
• A working understanding of the regulatory requirements relevant to mortgage or secured lending activities.
• Experience of compliance monitoring, customer file reviews or quality assurance within this sector.
• The ability to explain findings clearly and constructively challenge where improvements are needed.
• A clear interest in an operational Compliance Officer role, including ongoing monitoring and file review responsibilities.
Second charge lending experience would be particularly valuable. General financial services experience alone, without relevant mortgage or secured lending compliance exposure, will not meet the requirements for this vacancy.
The package
• Salary up to £50,000.
• Discretionary annual bonus.
• Hybrid working: three days in the London office and two from home.
• 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
• Pension and season ticket loan.
• Private medical insurance, healthcare cash plan and EV salary sacrifice scheme available after probation.
To apply, please send your CV with a brief outline of your mortgage or secured lending compliance experience and salary expectations.
