Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager

Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire | Permanent | Up to £55,000 | On-site

An established manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager to take ownership of its purchasing, supplier management and stores operations. This is a highly visible role, working closely with senior leadership, production and finance to ensure materials, services and supplier performance support both day-to-day operations and long-term business growth.

If you enjoy balancing strategic sourcing, commercial negotiation and operational supply chain management, this opportunity offers the chance to make a genuine impact across the business.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll lead purchasing activities across stock, non-stock materials and services, ensuring continuity of supply, robust supplier relationships and effective inventory management. You'll play a key role in driving cost efficiencies, improving procurement processes and maintaining compliance with AS9100 quality requirements.

Working in partnership with production and operations teams, you'll ensure materials are available when needed, proactively manage supplier performance and help shape sourcing strategies that support future growth.

  • Leading purchasing and supply chain activities across the business.
  • Building and developing strong supplier partnerships.
  • Negotiating pricing, contracts and commercial terms.
  • Managing supplier performance, delivery schedules and risk.
  • Overseeing stock control and inventory management to support production requirements.
  • Leading and developing the Stores team and warehouse operations.
  • Driving process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Managing approved supplier processes and supplier audits in line with AS9100 requirements.
  • Producing meaningful management information on purchasing activity, supplier performance and stock status.
  • Identifying new sourcing opportunities to support business growth and new product introduction.

You'll bring a strong background in purchasing, procurement or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment and be confident operating across both strategic and operational responsibilities.

Essential experience includes:

  • Significant experience in a senior purchasing, planning or supply chain management position within manufacturing.
  • Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of stock control and production planning requirements.
  • Experience working within, or a strong understanding of, AS9100 quality systems.
  • Proven ability to deliver process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • CIPS Level 5 qualification, would be beneficial but experience is more important

This role offers the opportunity to influence purchasing strategy, strengthen supplier performance and contribute directly to the success of a growing manufacturing operation. You'll have the autonomy to drive improvements, lead an established function and work closely with senior stakeholders to shape the future direction of the business.

If you're an experienced purchasing or supply chain professional looking for a leadership opportunity where you can make a measurable impact, we'd love to hear from you.
