Interim Accountant

Location: Birmingham / Hybrid
Contract: 3-6 Months Interim
Rate: Up to £180 per day

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Accountant to support a busy finance function during a period of increased workload. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls and supporting month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings.
• Accruals, prepayments and fixed asset accounting.
• Bank reconciliations and cashflow reporting.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• VAT returns and statutory reporting support.
• Liaise with auditors and key stakeholders as required.
• Support process improvements across the finance function.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Accountant, Management Accountant or Assistant Accountant position.
• Strong understanding of month-end accounting processes.
• Experience producing management accounts.
• Good Excel skills and attention to detail.
• AAT qualified, ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, qualified by experience or fully qualified.
• Available at short notice and able to hit the ground running.
