The role offers the opportunity to lead and develop teams, drive process and systems improvements, and play a central role in integrating group reporting requirements while maintaining strong financial controls and operational delivery. This would suit an experienced London market finance professional looking to combine technical accounting expertise with leadership, transformation and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the group/corporate finance team, overseeing financial reporting for corporate members, managing agencies, holding companies and UK and overseas service companies.

  • Ensure all relevant entities comply with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the key link between the corporate finance team and the wider parent company, implementing group requirements and change initiatives.

  • Drive improvements to finance processes, controls and documentation, establishing effective reporting timetables and deliverables.

  • Lead and support general ledger reviews, system changes and wider finance transformation projects.

  • Oversee finance operations, including the continued development of payment processes and accounts payable systems.

  • Manage relationships with external accounting service providers and coordinate with internal and external auditors.

  • Support the preparation of accounting papers and half-year and year-end audit requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls and establish best-practice finance processes.

  • Collaborate closely with the Syndicate Financial Controller to ensure an effective and joined-up finance function.

  • Support wider business initiatives and ad hoc projects as required.

Experience & Requirements
  • Qualified accountant with at least five years' post-qualification experience in a senior finance role within the London insurance market.

  • Experience accounting for corporate entities within the Lloyd's market.

  • Experience preparing consolidated financial statements, ideally including syndicate accounts.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes and financial controls.

  • Proven experience leading finance teams and delivering successful finance projects.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with practical IFRS 17 experience desirable.

  • Experience preparing Lloyd's syndicate returns desirable.

  • Experience working with SUN and/or Oracle General Ledger desirable.

  • Experience managing Funds at Lloyd's (FAL) and liaising with Members' Agents desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to manipulate, interpret and analyse large datasets.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrable leadership capability, with the ability to develop teams and influence stakeholders.

  • A proactive, adaptable approach, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
