Inspire, Engage, and Make a Difference Through Outdoor Learning

Are you passionate about the outdoors and committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Outdoor Education Tutor to provide 1:1 support to students through a range of engaging outdoor activities.

In this rewarding role, you will work with young people who have additional needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, and challenging behaviour. Using the outdoors as a powerful learning environment, you will help students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and practical life skills.

The Role

You will deliver and support a variety of outdoor-based learning experiences, including:

  • Rock climbing
  • Cycling
  • Fishing
  • Cooking from the land
  • Bushcraft and outdoor living skills
  • Adventure-based learning activities

You will build positive, trusting relationships with learners, helping them regulate emotions, develop social skills, and achieve personal goals. Activities will be tailored to individual abilities, ensuring students feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed.

A key part of the role will be supporting learners to work towards recognised accredited outcomes, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, helping them gain valuable qualifications that promote self-esteem, independence, and future opportunities.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people with additional needs, including autism and challenging behaviour.
  • Has experience supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream education or who struggle to engage in traditional learning environments.
  • Can use outdoor activities to build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
  • Has experience through Scouting, youth organisations, outdoor education programmes, or similar settings where structure, teamwork, and outdoor learning have been used to re-engage and inspire young people.
  • Is confident managing behaviour positively and constructively.
  • Can encourage participation and motivate learners to achieve their potential.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Is passionate about making a genuine difference to young people's lives.

What We're Looking For

This role would suit someone with a background in outdoor education, youth work, scouting, adventure learning, alternative provision, or special educational needs. Above all, we're seeking an individual who believes in the power of outdoor learning to transform lives and help young people achieve both personal and educational success.

Join us and help young people discover their strengths, unlock their potential, and achieve success through outdoor learning. ??
