An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a well-established and growing North East business. Due to continued expansion, the company is looking to appoint a motivated finance professional to support its busy accounts function.

This role offers a varied workload, exposure to multiple areas of finance, and the opportunity to work within a supportive, close-knit team. Study support may also be available for candidates currently pursuing AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualifications.

The Role

Reporting into the Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing and reconciling daily banking and card transactions
• Maintaining accurate sales ledger and debtor accounts
• Completing bank and account reconciliations
• Ensuring data accuracy across accounting and operational systems
• Preparing weekly bookkeeping journals
• Producing variance analysis and investigating discrepancies
• Assisting with stock valuation calculations
• Providing cover within the Accounts Receivable function during periods of absence
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• At least 3 years' experience in a similar Accounts Assistant position
• Previous experience using Sage 50
• Strong reconciliation skills and excellent attention to detail
• The ability to identify and investigate inaccuracies
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Confidence learning new systems and processes
• A proactive and self-motivated approach to work
• Experience of CIS would be advantageous but is not essential.
