Procurement Category Manager

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum
Location: Hybrid Working (Reading office with occasional travel)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced procurement professional to join a leading organisation supporting the Higher Education sector as a Category Manager.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, leading complex procurement projects, managing framework agreements, and building strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Working within a collaborative procurement team, you will play a key role in delivering commercial value and supporting strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver category management strategies.
• Lead end-to-end procurement and tendering exercises.
• Manage framework agreements throughout their lifecycle.
• Conduct market analysis and provide commercial insights.
• Build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
• Monitor supplier performance, contracts, risks, and compliance.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify procurement opportunities and requirements.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements.
• Deliver savings, efficiencies, and value-for-money outcomes.

About You

• Previous experience in Category Management
• Expertise in sourcing, tendering, and contract management.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of UK Public Sector Procurement regulations.
• Knowledge of Frameworks.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working within a public sector, education, NHS, local authority, or similar environment is desirable.
• CIPS/MCIPS qualification (or working towards) is advantageous.
