An established accountancy practice in High Wycombe is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join its Outsourced Accounting Services team.

This is a varied, client-facing role supporting a portfolio of businesses with their day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting requirements. You will work across different clients, accounting systems and industries, giving you plenty of variety in your day-to-day work.

The position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on bookkeeping, takes pride in producing accurate financial information and is confident managing their own workload. Previous accountancy practice experience would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Please note that this is a bookkeeping-focused position. It would therefore suit someone who enjoys the technical and client-facing aspects of bookkeeping and is happy to remain in a hands-on role.

The Role

Working as part of the Outsourced Accounting Services team, your responsibilities will include:

• Posting sales, purchase, bank and journal entries.

• Preparing and reconciling control accounts.

• Writing up clients' cashbooks and maintaining accurate financial records.

• Preparing financial information, analysis and basic working papers for management accounts.

• Carrying out bookkeeping remotely and, where required, at client premises.

• Reviewing bookkeeping completed by other team members to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and help finalise bookkeeping jobs.

• Supporting the wider team with outsourced accounting and client finance work.

• Using cloud accounting software, including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.

• Using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as part of your day-to-day responsibilities.

You will manage your own workload while working alongside an experienced team, with the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients and develop your knowledge of different businesses and accounting systems.

About You

We are looking for someone with a solid bookkeeping background who can work accurately, efficiently and independently.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous bookkeeping experience, preferably within an accountancy practice.

• A good understanding of sales, purchases, banking, journals and reconciliations.

• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.

• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

• Confidence communicating with clients and dealing with queries professionally.

• The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.

• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

• AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualifications, or current studies towards a relevant qualification, would be advantageous.

You should enjoy working with numbers, supporting a range of clients and taking responsibility for the accuracy of your work. This is a hands-on role, so it is important that you are comfortable with bookkeeping as your core responsibility rather than looking for a route into a more senior accounting position.
