Finance Assistant

£32,000 | Permanent | Full-Time

Macildowie Finance is recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join an established international business within a friendly, close-knit team.

This is a genuinely varied and hands-on finance role, offering the opportunity to gain exposure across a broad range of finance activities rather than being restricted to one particular area.

Alongside your core finance responsibilities, you'll be part of a collaborative office environment where everyone works together. From time to time, you'll therefore provide general cover and administrative support across the wider office when required.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing purchase invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger
• Supplier statement reconciliations and resolving queries
• Preparing supplier payment runs
• Banking, cash allocation and bank reconciliations
• Working across multiple currencies
• Processing expenses and company card transactions
• Assisting with journals, accruals and prepayments
• Supporting intercompany transactions and branch recharges
• Assisting with general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting VAT, EC Sales List and Intrastat administration
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Assisting with periodic and annual stock takes
• Maintaining accurate financial and customer records
• Providing general finance and administrative support
• Providing general office cover and support across the wider business when required

There will naturally be some involvement in month-end activities, but this is not a month-end-focused position. The role is much broader and would suit someone who enjoys variety and wants to develop their experience across different areas of finance.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous finance, accounts or bookkeeping experience, but you don't need to know everything from day one.

An understanding of double-entry bookkeeping would be beneficial, alongside good numerical and Excel skills.

More importantly, you'll be:

• Organised and able to prioritise a varied workload
• Accurate with strong attention to detail
• Personable and confident communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues
• Naturally inquisitive and comfortable asking questions
• Able to use your initiative and common sense
• Happy working independently as well as within a close-knit team
• Flexible and willing to provide general office cover when required
• Adaptable and comfortable switching between different tasks and priorities
• Keen to learn new systems and processes

This could be particularly well suited to someone who has developed a grounding in transactional finance and is now looking for an opportunity to broaden their experience and become a strong all-round Finance Assistant.
