Steel Erector
Salary: Minimum start £34,000 + per annum depending on experience
Position: Steel Erector
Location: High Wycombe, travelling to various project locations
HOURS: 08:00-17:00 Monday – Thursday & 07:00 – 16:00 Fridays
We are seeking an experienced Steel Erector who can not only deliver high-quality on-site installation work but also take responsibility for managing day-to-day activities on site. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, coordinating tasks, and ensuring smooth progress across multiple stages of steel erection.
Key Responsibilities
- Erect structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and site plans
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors, crane operators, and fabrication teams
- Install bolted connections, bracing, and secondary steelwork
- Operate lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely
- Maintain high standards of site safety and housekeeping
- Adapt to changing project requirements and assist with on-site problem-solving
Requirements
- Proven experience as a steel erector on commercial or industrial projects
- Strong understanding of structural steel installation and site safety
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings
- CSCS card required; IPAF, CPCS, or slinger/signaller qualifications advantageous
- Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Own transport essential
- Ability to weld would be advantageous
