Brokerage Officer

Pay: £18.44 – £19.96 per hour PAYE

Grade: G9 | Full Time

Working: Hybrid – minimum 2 office days per month in Oxfordshire, with additional attendance as required

We are seeking an experienced Children’s Brokerage Officer to source and secure suitable, high-quality and cost-effective placements for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and secure suitable placements and care/support packages for children and young people.
• Work closely with social workers, families, providers and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Negotiate with providers to secure appropriate placements and value for money.
• Manage multiple and complex placement requests within tight deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation using relevant systems, including CONTROCC.
• Support placement panels, commissioning activity and provider relationships.
• Ensure placements meet individual needs, outcomes and preferences.
• Apply relevant children’s social care legislation, safeguarding requirements and policies.
• Identify creative solutions for complex placement needs.

Essential Experience

• Direct Children’s Brokerage experience is essential.
• Experience sourcing or managing children’s placements.
• Strong understanding of Children’s Social Care.
• Knowledge of SEND and Supported Accommodation.
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-management skills.
• Experience working with social workers, families and external providers.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills, particularly Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
• Experience with placement/commissioning systems such as CONTROCC is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
