  • Help maintain high expectations around behaviour, attendance, punctuality and engagement.
  • Support students in accessing learning and overcoming barriers to education.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to provide targeted pastoral and learning support.
  • De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience, responsibility and positive attitudes.
  • Support students during transitions, unstructured times and throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with teachers, families and external professionals to ensure students receive consistent support.
  • Monitor and report on student wellbeing, behaviour and progress.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment where every student feels valued.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally within an educational, pastoral or youth work setting.
  • Is patient, approachable, resilient and emotionally intelligent.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Understands the importance of boundaries, consistency and positive reinforcement.
  • Can motivate and engage young people who may be reluctant to participate in education.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team but also use their own initiative.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience working within Alternative Provision, SEND, SEMH, youth work or similar settings would be highly desirable.
