Site Engineer - A46 Walsgrave Junction Upgrade Location: Walsgrave, Coventry Start Date: October 2026 Duration: Minimum 6 months Rate: £300-£450 per shift DOE Shift Pattern: Days Contract Type: Contract The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join the major A46 Walsgrave Junction Upgrade in Coventry, working with Octavius Infrastructure, a leading Tier 1 contractor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major highways project, with a minimum of 6 months work and the potential for further opportunities beyond this. We are particularly interested in engineers with a strong background in highways, earthworks and general civil engineering, who are confident with setting out and providing accurate engineering support to site teams. Key Responsibilities * Carry out accurate surveying and setting out to enable the construction of the works in accordance with drawings and specifications. * Provide clear, accurate and timely engineering and setting out information to site teams. * Monitor and check that works are constructed to the correct positions, levels and specifications. * Liaise closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and the wider development team to ensure engineering information is understood and implemented correctly. * Carry out quality assurance checks in line with project and company QA procedures. * Support the delivery of works safely and efficiently, ensuring activities are planned and completed in line with the programme. * Maintain accurate engineering records, documentation and as-built information where required. * Identify and communicate any engineering issues or discrepancies to the relevant site management team. * Work collaboratively with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders. * Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements. * Contribute to a positive and collaborative site culture, with safety and quality at the heart of delivery. Key Skills & Experience The successful candidate will ideally have: * Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on highways/civils projects. * Strong experience delivering earthworks and highways works. * Good knowledge of setting out and surveying. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. * Experience carrying out QA checks and maintaining accurate site records. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and management. * A proactive approach to identifying and resolving engineering issues. * Relevant engineering qualifications or demonstrable site-based engineering experience. * Appropriate CSCS card and relevant site qualifications.
