A leading real estate business is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team. This broad role combines ownership of management accounts with finance business partnering, budgeting and forecasting across a portfolio of managed assets and partnerships.

Working closely with senior finance colleagues, operational teams and external partners, you will provide clear financial insight, explain performance and support commercial decisions. The position would suit a hands-on accountant who enjoys both the detail of month-end reporting and building relationships across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the month-end process for a portfolio of partnerships, producing accurate management accounts, reporting packs and supporting commentary.
  • Review profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, ensuring reconciliations are complete and financial controls are maintained.
  • Deliver meaningful variance analysis against budgets, forecasts and prior periods, working with stakeholders to understand performance and identify actions.
  • Act as a finance business partner to operational and commercial teams, providing financial advice and challenging assumptions where appropriate.
  • Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts, incorporating stakeholder input and highlighting key risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor financial and operational KPIs, identifying trends and flagging performance issues early.
  • Contribute to quarterly board packs and reporting for external partners and investors.
  • Monitor capital expenditure, partner recharges, management fees and profit share calculations in line with contractual agreements.
  • Work with accounts payable and receivable teams to maintain accurate postings and resolve outstanding queries.
  • Improve reporting, processes and controls, and support ad hoc analysis and wider finance projects.

About you

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, ideally with at least two years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong management accounting experience, including ownership of month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrable finance business partnering experience, with the confidence to build relationships and challenge non-finance stakeholders.
  • Good budgeting and forecasting experience, including preparing budgets, updating forecasts and explaining key movements.
  • Real estate or property sector experience is preferred, although candidates from other sectors with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to turn financial data into clear, practical insight.
  • Commercially aware, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving processes.
  • Organised and collaborative, with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment.
