Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Paraplanner to join a whole of market financial planning firm in Altrincham, Cheshire, where one of the current paraplanners is moving into advice. This full-time, permanent job pays £43,000 to £48,000, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with hybrid working of up to four days a week from home if wanted. The package includes a 5% employer pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off, death in service at three times salary and full study support. It suits a career Paraplanner who wants complex high net worth work, a one to one paraplanner to adviser ratio and a very modern, relaxed firm in Altrincham with no rigid or outdated procedures.

Role Responsibilities

This Paraplanner job is for someone who wants to stay technical and keep getting better at it. The firm runs a one to one ratio of paraplanners to advisers, so the incoming Paraplanner works directly with the adviser on each case rather than at the end of a queue. Clients are high net worth individuals, families and business owners with an average of over £1m invested, so the cases are rarely straightforward and the research behind them matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning complex suitability reports across pensions, investments and estate planning
  • Building bespoke portfolios through the firm's investment sifting process and fund panel
  • Leading the technical research and analysis behind each adviser's recommendations
  • Cashflow modelling and planning projections in Intelliflo Planning and Voyant
  • Pension transfers, retirement income, trusts and inheritance tax planning cases
  • Intergenerational wealth planning and tax-efficient investment solutions
  • Product, platform and investment research to keep recommendations suitable
  • Liaising with providers, investment managers and compliance to put advice in place
  • Working across Aegon, Aviva, Quilter, Royal London and Fidelity

Person Specification

The successful Paraplanner will ideally be someone who has chosen paraplanning as a career rather than as a route into advice. Technical confidence matters more than years served, and the advisers want someone they can trust with their most complex cases early on. Experience at an independent or whole of market practice will translate directly, whether the current title is paraplanner, technical paraplanner or senior paraplanner.

You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Paraplanning experience across pensions, investments and inheritance tax planning
  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or good progress towards it
  • Confidence writing suitability reports that go out without rewrites
  • Experience of pension transfers, trusts and retirement income cases
  • An organised approach to a varied caseload of complex cases
  • Working knowledge of a cashflow modelling tool such as Voyant
  • A strong focus on technical accuracy and good client outcomes
  • Clear written communication, since the reports are the output

Benefits and Rewards

This Paraplanner job pays £43,000 to £48,000, full-time and permanent, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with hybrid working of up to four days a week from home if wanted. Alongside the salary, the employer offers:

  • Salary of £43,000 to £48,000
  • Full-time, permanent, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • Hybrid and remote working, up to four days a week from home
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • A day off for your birthday each year
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Death in service at three times salary
  • Full study support, including exam fees and study time
  • A one to one paraplanner to adviser ratio

About the Company

The employer is a whole of market financial planning firm in Altrincham, Cheshire, advising high net worth individuals, families and business owners, with an average of over £1m invested per client and some relationships going back thirty years. It is a very modern, relaxed firm with no rigid or outdated procedures, run by three working directors who intend to stay for the long term, with no sale or exit planned. Growth follows a set order, with support staff in place before new advisers join, so nobody arrives at a firm that cannot resource them properly. People progress here too, and this job is open because one of the paraplanners is moving into advice with the owners' backing.
