Interim Senior Procurement Manager

Location: Birmingham, hybrid working - 1 day per week on-site
Rate: £550-£600 per day
Contract: Interim

We are supporting a large public sector organisation in Birmingham with the appointment of an experienced Interim Senior Procurement Manager to provide leadership across a newly established sourcing function.This is a more senior role, providing expert procurement and sourcing advice while supporting the development of procurement strategies, new sourcing approaches and improved procurement practice. The role will also lead procurement projects, manage supplier performance information and provide leadership and development to members of the sourcing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on procurement-led sourcing and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the development of procurement strategies and innovative sourcing approaches.
• Lead procurement projects using a structured project management approach.
• Analyse supplier performance and risk information to inform improvements and mitigation activity.
• Ensure procurement activity operates within appropriate governance and assurance arrangements.
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement through systems, technology and AI.
• Lead and develop direct reports, including work allocation, performance management and professional development.

About You

We are looking for a senior procurement professional with:

• Strong experience developing and delivering procurement and sourcing strategies.
• The ability to interpret and apply procurement regulations within a complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement governance, legal requirements and value for money.
• Experience analysing supplier performance and risk data to drive improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience leading and developing procurement professionals.
• Strong knowledge of procurement systems and technology.
• A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience, ideally with CIPS accreditation, but this is not essential.
