The Opportunity

Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a successful business based in Wakefield to recruit a Transport Compliance Coordinator to support the safe and compliant operation of its national transport fleet.

Reporting to the Transport Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining driver and vehicle compliance, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date, and supporting the transport team in meeting DVSA regulations and operator licence requirements.

The Role

  • Maintain vehicle compliance records, including MOTs, servicing, inspections, brake tests and maintenance schedules.

  • Monitor vehicle defects, ensuring issues are investigated, resolved and recorded correctly.

  • Ensure tachograph data is downloaded within required timescales and support driver compliance reviews.

  • Monitor scheduled vehicle and trailer inspections, escalating any missed checks or compliance issues.

  • Maintain accurate records for owned and hired vehicles, ensuring documentation is ready for audits.

  • Ensure transport operations meet DVSA regulations, operator licence requirements and company procedures.

  • Liaise with drivers, planners, warehouse teams and transport management to coordinate maintenance and resolve issues.

  • Support the monitoring of driver hours, working time requirements and road transport legislation.

  • Assist with operational reporting, compliance reviews and incident investigations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, efficiency and safety across the fleet.

About You

  • Previous experience in transport, logistics or fleet compliance.

  • Good understanding of DVSA regulations, driver hours, working time requirements and operator licence compliance.

  • Experience maintaining vehicle maintenance records, inspection schedules and defect registers.

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise with drivers and internal teams.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, prioritising workloads and escalating issues when necessary.

  • Flexibility to support a transport operation that runs seven days a week.

Experience with Tachomaster, R2C, Truckfile or similar fleet compliance systems would be advantageous. A Transport Manager CPC or relevant health and safety qualification would also be beneficial but is not essential.
