Business Development Manager

We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join a growing technology business specialising in procurement and supplier management solutions. This Business Development Manager position will focus on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across both public and private sector markets.

This is a consultative sales role suited to a commercially driven professional who can build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to contract award.

Day-to-day of the role

• Identify, develop, and win new business opportunities across either public or private sector organisations (2 separate teams)
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, events, and partner engagement.
• Develop relationships with senior decision-makers across procurement, finance, commercial, and operational teams.
• Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, including discovery, presentations, proposals, negotiations, and contract closure.
• Deliver engaging product demonstrations and value-led presentations to prospective clients.
• Prepare proposals, business cases, and tender submissions to support new business activity.
• Work closely with internal marketing and customer-facing teams to maximise lead generation and account growth.
• Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM reporting.
• Stay up to date with procurement market trends, legislation, and digital transformation developments affecting customers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven track record of winning new business and exceeding sales targets in a B2B environment.
• Experience selling SaaS, software, or technology solutions into enterprise and/or public sector organisations.
• Strong consultative sales, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and executive decision-makers.
• Experience managing complex sales processes with multiple decision-makers.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Commercially aware, self-motivated, and proactive in approach.
• Experience within procurement technology, supplier management, contract management, spend analytics, or similar solutions would be beneficial.
• Either of the following :
• Knowledge of UK public sector procurement processes and relevant frameworks.
• Experience of selling technology into the private sector
