Ruby Group is recruiting a Financial Controller for a business in North London. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance team and oversee financial control, reporting and compliance.

This is a hands-on role with regular contact across operations and commercial teams. Alongside delivering reliable monthly accounts, you will help managers understand performance, improve working capital and make informed decisions on pricing, costs and investment.

What you will do
  • Lead month-end close, management accounts and reporting packs, with clear commentary on performance against budget and forecast.
  • Own balance sheet control, reconciliations, journals, revenue recognition and intercompany reporting.
  • Coordinate budgets and rolling forecasts; assess site, service and customer profitability and capital investment proposals.
  • Manage cash forecasting and working capital, including oversight of accounts payable, receivables, credit control and payment processes.
  • Maintain financial controls and coordinate statutory accounts, tax compliance and the annual audit with advisers and Group Finance.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, with clear responsibilities, deadlines and coaching.
  • Improve reporting processes and management information, maintaining accurate data and effective financial controls.
What you will bring

You will have experience in financial control, finance management or a senior accounting role, with a sound understanding of UK reporting, balance sheet control, forecasting and working capital. You will also bring experience supervising a finance team and managing audit, statutory reporting and tax requirements.

Experience improving finance reporting and processes will be valuable. Strong Excel, accounting systems and communication skills will help you work effectively with non-finance colleagues.

ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred. Experience in a multi-site business is desirable.

Location and package

The role is based in North London and requires three days a week in the office. The salary is £85,000–£90,000 per annum, depending on experience, with private health insurance and an EV salary scheme.
