Accounts Payable Specialist

A prestigious US law firm is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join its London Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with Accounts Payable experience to join a highly regarded international firm and support finance operations across multiple global offices.

Working closely with the London Finance Manager and wider Finance team, you will play a key role in invoice processing, payment runs, supplier management and cashiering support, whilst ensuring compliance with firm policies and VAT requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Invoice processing - Review invoices and expense claims for coding, VAT compliance and adherence to firm policies.
• Supplier management - Act as a key point of contact for suppliers, resolving queries and maintaining strong working relationships.
• Payment runs - Prepare and process regular bank transfer payment runs and support ad hoc payments where required.
• Vendor maintenance - Maintain supplier records, onboard new vendors and ensure appropriate verification procedures are followed.
• e-Invoice management - Manage supplier invoices and ensure accurate posting to the finance system.
• Stakeholder support - Work closely with Partners, legal support teams and Finance colleagues to resolve invoice and payment queries.
• General ledger support - Assist with account reconciliations, journal preparation and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Process improvement - Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and contribute to finance projects and initiatives.
• Cashiering support - Provide cover for the Senior Legal Cashier, assisting with receipts, payments and bank account administration.

Experience Required

• Previous experience within an Accounts Payable or finance position, in a law firm environment.
• Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, supplier management and payment runs.
• Knowledge of UK VAT requirements and business expenditure rules.
• Experience using Aderant or a similar finance system would be beneficial.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
