Job Title: Export Operator

About the Opportunity

A well-established UK freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Export Operator to join their growing team in Birmingham. This is a fully office-based position responsible for overseeing export operations from point of origin through to final delivery, ensuring compliance, accurate documentation, and excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end export shipments across various modes of transport (Sea, Air, or Road).
• Prepare, check, and process all essential export documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, Certificate of Origin, and commercial invoices.
• Complete customs export declarations accurately in accordance with current HMRC regulations.
• Liaise directly with shipping lines, airlines, transport providers, and overseas agents to arrange bookings and track shipments.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely progress updates, quotes, and issue resolution.
• Ensure accurate billing, job costing, and file closing in line with company standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience working as an Export Operator within a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong working knowledge of export customs clearance procedures and documentation requirements.
• Familiarity with freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, ASM Sequoia, or similar systems).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments concurrently under tight deadlines.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to commute daily to the Birmingham office.
