An established independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Hazel Grove is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join its close-knit team.

The firm works with a broad range of businesses and individuals, including owner-managed companies, sole traders, partnerships, contractors, landlords and family businesses.
Unlike larger practices where responsibilities can become increasingly specialised, this role offers the opportunity to remain involved in accounts, tax, client management and business advisory work. Preparing accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and FRS 105
Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
Assisting with personal tax returns and related queries
Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
Producing management accounts where required
Supporting clients with bookkeeping and accounting software queries
Managing assignments from initial preparation through to completion
Acting as a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients
Building strong relationships with business owners
Helping clients understand their financial performance
Identifying opportunities to improve clients' accounting processes
Supporting clients with tax planning and compliance matters
Working closely with senior colleagues on more complex assignments
Providing practical advice to clients beyond their annual accounts
The Candidate:
ACA or ACCA qualification, although strong QBE candidates will also be considered
At least 3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong statutory accounts preparation experience
Experience working with owner-managed businesses
Good knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105
Experience preparing corporation tax computations
Some exposure to personal tax would be advantageous
Knowledge of VAT and general practice compliance
Experience using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting software
Confidence communicating directly with clients
Excellent attention to detail
Strong organisational and time-management skills
The ability to manage assignments independently
A friendly, approachable and professional communication style

Opportunity to join an established independent practice
Close-knit and experienced team
Broad exposure across accounts, tax and business advisory
Direct client contact
Opportunity to manage your own assignments
Exposure to a varied owner-managed business portfolio
Opportunity to work closely with senior decision-makers
Ongoing technical and professional development
Long-term career opportunities within a relationship-led practice
