Opportunity: Company & Commercial Lawyer (2-6 PQE)

Location: Wiltshire | Hybrid & Flexible Working

Salary: Up to £80,000 + Bonus

Good quality work, room to make your mark and a firm that understands there's more to life than work.

I'm working with a Wiltshire law firm looking to grow its Company & Commercial offering. Combining a strong local presence with an approachable, down-to-earth culture, it's an opportunity to join a firm where you can develop your own practice, work closely with the partners and build a career that suits where you want to go next.

Whether you're looking for more autonomy, greater involvement in business development or simply a firm that offers a better balance between your career and life outside it, this could be well worth a conversation.

The Role:

You'll advise a varied client base, from start-ups and owner-managed businesses to established companies, on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. The work offers plenty of variety, with the chance to build your expertise across transactions and ongoing commercial advice while becoming a trusted adviser to your clients.

Your work will include:

  • Business sales, acquisitions and mergers.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Shareholder agreements and wider corporate arrangements.
  • Franchise and agency agreements.
  • Advising on business start-ups and helping clients put the right foundations in place.
  • Providing ongoing commercial advice to businesses as they grow and evolve.

Alongside the fee-earning, you'll have the opportunity to develop your own client relationships, strengthen referral networks and contribute to the continued growth of the department. The firm has an existing client base and reputation to build upon, so you'll have a platform to develop your practice with the backing of an established business.

You'll work closely with the wider team, sharing knowledge and collaborating across practice areas to provide clients with joined-up advice. It's a role for someone who enjoys the legal work itself but also wants to understand their clients' businesses, build relationships and play a part in growing the practice.

The Firm & Culture

This is a firm that has retained the personal feel of a traditional High Street practice while continuing to invest in its people and services. Its local connections and long-standing client relationships mean the work is built around understanding people and their businesses, not simply dealing with the next transaction.

The partnership is approachable and the culture is collaborative, with an emphasis on giving people the support and opportunities to develop their careers. There's room to take ownership of your work and make your mark without the layers of hierarchy that can sometimes come with larger, more corporate environments.

The firm also places real value on its place in the local community, with opportunities to get involved in charity initiatives and other community activities.

What's on Offer?

The package is about more than salary alone, with flexibility, development and benefits designed to support you both professionally and personally.

  • Hybrid and flexible working, with a choice of being based in one of their offices across Wiltshire.
  • 28 days' annual leave + bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell annual leave.
  • Enhanced maternity pay, alongside additional leave for those with caring/family responsibilities.
  • Professional development support, including assistance with professional accreditations and further study.
  • Recognition for loyalty, through length-of-service awards.
  • Everyday extras, including discounted legal services, eye care and flu jabs.
  • A social and community-minded culture, with firm social events and opportunities to support local charities and initiatives.
  • The flexibility around working arrangements and additional leave for family or caring responsibilities is particularly appealing. It reflects an understanding that people have commitments outside work and that a good employer should make room for them.
