Management Accountant

Reed Finance Norwich are delighted to be exclusively supporting a long-standing client of ours to recruit for a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This hands-on Management Accountant position will support the Finance Director and take ownership of core accounting, reporting and control activities across the group. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, improving reporting accuracy and delivering timely management information.

Day-to-day of the role

• Review, update and reconcile integrated profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow forecasts across multiple group entities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet reporting and supporting schedules, within agreed deadlines.
• Complete monthly group consolidations, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
• Analyse performance against budget, forecast and prior periods, providing clear commentary on key variances.
• Ensure accurate accounting for accruals, prepayments, deferred income, work in progress and revenue recognition.
• Prepare, reconcile and submit VAT returns, including international transactions and reverse charge considerations.
• Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, payroll, pension, control account and intercompany balances.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and review depreciation, amortisation and capitalised expenditure.
• Support year-end processes, statutory accounts preparation and audit queries with accurate historical financial information.
• Help standardise month-end procedures, strengthen controls and improve finance systems and reporting processes.

Required skills & qualifications

• AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience in management accounting.
• Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts, ideally across more than one entity.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and financial controls.
• Strong Excel skills and a sound understanding of how profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow interact.
• Experience of group consolidation and intercompany accounting would be advantageous.
• Experience with Sage or similar finance systems, along with exposure to year-end and audit processes.
