Are you a practical, proactive individual looking for a rewarding maintenance role where your work genuinely makes a difference?

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist education provider that supports children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism, SEMH needs, and communication and interaction difficulties. With multiple sites across Leicestershire and exciting expansion plans underway, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation dedicated to creating safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environments.

The Role

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring school buildings and grounds remain safe, secure and well-maintained for both students and staff. Working across multiple sites, you will carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, support compliance requirements, and help maintain the highest standards across the schools.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Basic repairs including joinery, plumbing and general building maintenance.
  • Conducting routine inspections and reporting any issues.
  • Assisting with health and safety compliance and site security.
  • Liaising with external contractors and monitoring works undertaken.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Supporting emergency repairs and responding to urgent site issues when required.
  • Contributing to a positive, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical maintenance skills and a hands-on approach.
  • Possesses knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic plumbing and joinery.
  • Understands hot and cold-water systems and good working trade practices.
  • Has knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Can work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Builds positive working relationships with colleagues, pupils and contractors.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
  • Is happy to travel between sites and support occasional emergency callouts.

Previous experience within a school or educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential.

What's on Offer?

  • Permanent full-time employment.
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • Opportunity to work within a highly supportive and growing organisation.
  • Meaningful work contributing to the education and wellbeing of young people with additional needs.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • The chance to be part of an exciting period of growth and development.

If you're looking for a varied maintenance role where no two days are the same and where your work directly supports young people to thrive, we'd love to hear from you.
