SEN Teaching Assistant - Barking & Dagenham

Previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential, so this could also be a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience within SEN.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Barking & Dagenham
Contract: 2 November 2026 - July 2027
Pay: £93-£120 per day

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Barking & Dagenham, you will provide additional support to pupils who may need help accessing their learning, managing classroom routines and developing their confidence.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team, helping create an inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to make progress.

The role will involve a mixture of classroom support, one-to-one assistance and small-group work depending on the needs of the pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs.
• Assist children with their learning and classroom activities.
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Help pupils develop confidence and independence.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience working with children in an education or care setting is beneficial.
• Patient, caring and understanding approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply.
