Operations (Freight) role

£35,000 - £40,000 per annum

The Opportunity

An established and growing freight forwarding business is seeking an experienced Sea or Air Freight expert to join their operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong customs and freight forwarding experience who can confidently manage shipments from start to finish, ensuring compliance, accuracy and exceptional customer service throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage import and export shipments from start to finish.
• Complete customs clearance entries accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and customs procedures.
• Liaise with customers, carriers, agents and customs authorities.
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment and customs documentation.
• Provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders throughout the shipment lifecycle.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum of 4 years' experience within freight forwarding and customs clearance.
• Experience managing shipments from start to finish.
• Good working knowledge of CDS (Customs Declaration Service).
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Experience handling multi-modal import and export shipments.
• Experience using CargoWise.
• Experience using Descartes/e-Customs systems.
