Solution Architect

• Rate: £700 per day
• Location: Telford
• Working arrangement: 2 days onsite
• Contract length: 6 months
• IR35 status: Capgemini-mandated PAYE only
• Clearance: Can start with BPSS but must be eligible for SC if required

Your new company

You'll be working as part of the Capgemini programme team on a large-scale application modernisation and cloud migration programme for a major public sector client. The programme is focused on modernising key business services, increasing the adoption of mainstream technology stacks and public cloud, and reducing existing technical debt.

Your new role

As a Solution Architect, you'll take ownership of solution design through the delivery lifecycle, working through technical challenges and architectural decisions alongside project, engagement and delivery teams.You'll act as a technical lead from solution design and development through to implementation into Live Service, while maintaining effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own individual application modernisation requirements within the wider programme.
• Lead the development and documentation of solution designs, ensuring good architectural practices throughout the lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions and architectural artefacts adhere to Architecture Governance processes.
• Work closely with agile development teams and delivery architects across all phases of the solution lifecycle.
• Own solutions and act as a key technical contact for senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the development of commercial proposals where required.
• Own technical solution governance throughout delivery.
• Manage technical relationships with vendors, third parties and the wider Capgemini organisation.
• Ensure solution delivery is aligned with agreed specifications.
• Own technical problem management and resolution relevant to solution development.

What you'll need to succeedEssential skills and experience

• Experience of application modernisation and public cloud migration.
• Broad experience of public and private cloud solutions, best practices and ways of working.
• Experience working with agile development teams and delivery architects throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Strong solution ownership, including working through technical challenges and decisions.
• Ability to work credibly with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience developing strong client relationships and operating as a trusted technical adviser.
• Experience managing technical relationships with vendors and third parties.
• Experience with technical problem management and resolution during solution development.

Desirable skills and experience

Experience working with legacy technologies and adapting them to fit within an ecosystem using technologies such as:

• AWS
• Azure
• Kubernetes
• Helm
• Java
• JavaScript
• Oracle
• MySQL
