Job Description: Membership Development Executive

Location: Colchester, Essex, with occasional travel across Essex

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (occasional out-of-hours events)

Salary: Dependent on experience

Reporting to: Client Relationship Manager

Role Purpose

To support the development, engagement and retention of members by providing excellent customer service, building strong relationships and identifying opportunities to increase membership value and participation.

The role combines member relationship management, administration, communication and business development support.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a first point of contact for existing and prospective members.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses and key contacts.
• Respond to enquiries and provide timely, professional support.
• Proactively contact members to understand their needs and maximise membership benefits.
• Maintain accurate membership records and CRM systems.
• Support membership onboarding, renewals, retention and engagement.
• Identify opportunities to connect members with relevant services, events and business opportunities.
• Support the Client Relationship Manager with account management and membership growth.
• Assist with the organisation and delivery of events and networking activities.
• Follow up with members and event attendees to encourage ongoing engagement.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent member experience.

• Comfortable making telephone calls and building relationships.
• IT confident, with good administrative and CRM skills.

Essential Requirements

• Experience in customer service, client relationship management or a similar role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good IT, administration and organisational skills.
• Experience maintaining records and using databases or business systems.
• Confidence attending networking events and representing the organisation professionally.
• A proactive approach with good attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable

• Experience within a membership organisation, business network or professional association.
• B2B experience.
• Experience using CRM or membership management systems.
• An understanding of business development and commercial opportunities.
• Knowledge of the Essex business community.
