General Operative (Street Cleansing) - Temporary | Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Blaris Depot, Altona Road, Lisburn BT27 5QB £13.69 per hour (PAYE) 37 hours per week Starting Monday 9 November 2026 Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a General Operative to join Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's Waste Management & Operations team, based at the Blaris depot. You'll help keep streets and public spaces across the council area clean, safe and tidy. What you'll be doing: Street sweeping and litter picking in town centres, residential areas and open spaces Emptying litter bins and clearing fly-tipping and waste Supporting mechanical sweepers and street cleansing crews Using equipment safely, such as brushes, shovels, leaf blowers and power washers Helping with seasonal work such as leaf clearance and winter gritting Wearing the correct PPE and following safe working practices Reporting problems such as damaged bins, vandalism or hazards What you'll need: Experience of general operative, labouring, cleansing, refuse or other outdoor manual work Good health and safety awareness, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions A reliable, hardworking approach and the ability to work as part of a team A polite, helpful manner when dealing with the publicA driving licence would be an advantage.
