Veritas Education is recruiting Autism Support Assistants to work within a highly regarded specialist school in Stockton-on-Tees. The provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and offers a nurturing environment where every learner is encouraged to develop independence, confidence and life skills.

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with immediate starts and genuine opportunities to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The Role

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism
• Help learners access lessons and engage positively in school life
• Support communication, emotional regulation and social development
• Use positive behaviour strategies and structured routines
• Work closely with teaching staff and wider professionals to support individual learning plans
• Encourage independence and celebrate progress, no matter how small

Ideal Backgrounds

• SEN Teaching Assistant roles

• Care and support work
• Residential childcare
• Youth work
• Behaviour support
• Mental health support
• Sports coaching
• Psychology, education or health & social care graduates
