This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful manufacturing business where you'll play a key role within a busy finance team, taking ownership of day-to-day transactional accounting activities and helping to improve the efficiency of finance processes.

You'll be joining a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The business is looking for someone who can quickly become a trusted member of the team, take responsibility for their workload, and confidently manage multiple priorities.

This role offers genuine variety across all aspects of transactional finance. You'll gain exposure to the full purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash management and month-end processes, making it an ideal position for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys being involved across the entire accounts function.

You'll have the autonomy to work independently, whilst also being part of a collaborative team environment where your contribution will have a direct impact on the wider business.

What you'll do

• Manage the day-to-day purchase ledger function, including processing invoices, supplier statement reconciliations and payment runs.
• Maintain the sales ledger, raising invoices, allocating receipts, monitoring outstanding balances and supporting credit control activities.
• Process bank transactions, perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow monitoring.
• Support month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments and reconciliation work.
• Assist with payroll administration and employee expense processing where required.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to resolve finance queries promptly and professionally.
• Identify opportunities to improve, automate and streamline finance processes.
• Support the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.

What you'll need

• Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
• Strong working knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Experience working within a busy and fast-paced environment, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, distribution or a similar operational business.
• Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
• A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
• Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• A process-improvement mindset with the ability to suggest and implement efficiencies.
